Founded by Kuldeep Jain (Ex-McKinsey), CleanMax started operations in 2010 with the vision of being the “Net Zero partners for corporate consumers”. It initially started as a rooftop solar developer in India but soon added new products, including large-scale wind and solar farms, and expanded to new geographies in UAE & Southeast Asia. CleanMax serves clients like Meta, Amazon, Google, Apple, Intel, Cisco, TVS group, Tata Motors, Adobe, Accenture, Unilever, GE, Mahindra & Mahindra, UPL, etc.
The Carbon Business offers a full-stack solution for carbon credits. It is involved in the active trading of environmental commodities (~2 million credits in FY2025). At the same time, it also invests and develops community-based carbon reduction projects in India, particularly focusing on agroforestry projects. It has launched a fund of INR 30 cr. to identify, provide seed capital, and implement pilot agroforestry projects in India with a potential of attracting INR 2000 cr. capital.

Job Overview

We are looking for a commercial contract management professional to manage the execution and ongoing administration of complex renewable energy and environmental attribute contracts with global corporate buyers.
The role sits within the Business Development team for our carbon and environmental markets business and will be responsible for ensuring that contractual commitments made to corporate buyers are implemented and
managed effectively across the lifecycle of the projects.
This role requires strong cross-functional coordination across project development, asset management, finance, regulatory and operations teams, as well as direct interaction with client asset management teams.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, commercially aware, and capable of managing multiple projects and contracts simultaneously while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Execution & Lifecycle Management
    • Manage  the end-to-end  implementation  of  renewable  energy  and  environmental  attribute contracts with corporate buyers.
    • Track and monitor obligations under various structures including:
      • Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (vPPAs) structured as Contracts for Difference
      • Energy Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs)
      • Group captive power purchase structures
      • Renewable energy attribute sales from merchant projects
      • Joint venture structures involving project ownership
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of contractual obligations and ensure all milestones and obligations are fulfilled on time.
  • Project & Client Reporting
    • Coordinate with internal teams to prepare monthly project development updates for contracted projects.
    • Gather inputs from teams, including project development, engineering, land, regulatory, finance and operations.
    • Track progress against development milestones and ensure timely reporting to corporate buyers.
  • Client Coordination
    • Act as a primary coordination point for client asset management teams on operational and contractual matters.
    • Manage ongoing client communication regarding project status, operational performance, and contractual deliverables.
  • Operational Contract Management
    • Coordinate the operational implementation of contracts, including:
      • Commercial operation date (COD) declarations
      • Renewable energy certificate (REC) registry registrations
      • Monthly environmental attribute transfers
      • Contract settlement processes (including CFD settlement calculations)
      • Coordination with billing teams to ensure accurate invoicing and settlements.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Work closely with internal teams across:
      • Project development and execution
      • Asset management
      • Finance and billing
      • Regulatory and market operations
    • Ensure all internal teams understand and comply with contractual obligations.
  • Contractual Compliance
    • Track contractual obligations across a portfolio of projects and ensure timely execution of all commitments.
    • Identify potential contractual or operational risks early and escalate internally where necessary.

Key Qualifications &Skills

Experience
3-5 years of experience in:
  • Renewable energy project management
  • Asset management
  • Commercial operations in energy markets
  • Contract management in infrastructure or power sectors.

Technical/Commercial Understanding

  • Familiarity with renewable energy project development and operations.
  • Exposure to renewable energy contracts such as PPAs, corporate PPAs, vPPAs, or energy attribute transactions is preferred.
  • Understanding of power markets and renewable energy certificate markets is advantageous.

Skills

  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
