Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving CleanMax’s growth in the Karnataka market by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities in the rooftop and onsite solar segment. The role focuses on strategic client acquisition, relationship management, and achieving sales and market share targets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Regional Strategy s Growth
    • Develop and execute a business development strategy for Karnataka aligned with overall business objectives.
    • Drive revenue growth and expand market penetration in the industrial and commercial (ICC) segment.
  • Opportunity Identification s Client Acquisition
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across target industries and clusters.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within client organizations.
  • Client Engagement s Deal Closure
    • Lead end-to-end sales cycles including prospecting, proposal development, presentations, negotiations, and closure.
    • Drive commercial discussions, structure deals, and ensure alignment with internal financial and technical parameters.
  • Market Intelligence
    • Continuously monitor regulatory developments, policy changes, competitor activity, and market trends.
    • Provide actionable insights to refine go-to-market strategies.
  • Cross-functional Coordination
    • Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and legal teams to ensure delivery of optimized, client-centric solutions.
    • Ensure seamless transition from sales to execution.
  • Performance Management & Reporting
    • Track and report sales pipeline, forecasts, closures, and key performance metrics.
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on business progress and market outlook.
  • Brand Representation
    • Represent CleanMax at industry forums, conferences, and client engagements to strengthen brandvisibility and network.

Key Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
    • MBA preferred
  • Experience
    • Minimum 3+ years in business development or sales
    • At least 2+ years of experience in the solar/renewable energy sector
  • Functional Skills
    • Strong understanding of solar business models (OPEX/CAPEX), policies, and regulatorylandscape
    • Proven track record in client acquisition and deal closures
    • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
