Job Overview
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Agroforestry Project, verifying milestone achievements, ensuring compliance with project standards, and providing structured progress updates. The position requires strong monitoring, documentation review, field validation, and reporting capabilities to safeguard investor interests and ensure transparency in execution.
Key Responsibilities
Implementation Oversight & Monitoring
- Monitor the Implementation Partner’s adherence to agreed project timelines and milestones.
- Validate physical progress through regular field visits.
- Identify delays, risks, or deviations and escalate appropriately.
- Build strong relationships with local communities, landowners, NGOs, and government agencies to facilitate smooth implementation.
- Co-ordinate and supervise capacity building programs for the community stakeholders on Carbon project benefits and Plantation management.
Documentation & Compliance Review
- Review Project Design Document inputs, monitoring data, and MRV documentation.
- Review land documentation (Land records, agreements, eligibility checks).
Data Validation & Reporting
- Cross-check plantation data, survival rates, species mix, and area coverage.
- Ensure accuracy of GIS mapping and geo-tagged records.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and milestone-based performance summaries.
Risk Management & Governance
- Identify and mitigate operational, compliance, and reputational risks.
- Ensure audit readiness for validation and verification.
- Implement a grievance redressal mechanism to address concerns from stakeholders.
Key Qualifications & Skills
Must have:
- Bachelor’s/master’s degree in forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in agroforestry, afforestation/reforestation, or carbon projects.
- Experience in project monitoring, milestone validation, and compliance review.
- Willingness to travel for field verification across India.
- Deep understanding of rural community management and experience in leading population-scale social programs.
Good to have:
- Exposure to carbon credit lifecycle (validation, verification, issuance).
- Understanding of ARR projects and VM0047 methodology under Verra.
